Opening Hearts. Changing Lives.

Everyone deserves a family

The Indiana Adoption Program makes that possible. Through adoption, adults are able to invite children to join their family.

Through the Indiana Adoption Program, adults and children can build families together.

The Indiana Adoption Program is a statewide effort to create permanent homes for children who are, due to circumstances beyond their control, wards of the state’s child welfare system. They are children who have no prospect of returning to their birth families.

For more information contact your regional SNAP Specialist.

Opening Hearts, Changing Lives

Having access to a caring adult is important to every child. Children don’t need perfect parents, just people who are willing to take on the challenges of parenting, and to make a lifetime commitment to caring for and nurturing them. If you’re ready to learn more, the next step is to get acquainted with the adoption process.

  1. Learn as much as you can about adoption.
  2. Attend adoption and parenting classes.
  3. Undertake the family preparation process.

For information on becoming an adoptive parent and the children who are available for adoption within the child welfare system, please call 1-888-825-ADOPT or contact your county office of the Indiana Department of Child Services of visit www.in.gov/DCS/adoption.
